В статье проблематизируется феномен кризиса свидетельствования о «трудном прошлом» в связи с уходом непосредственных участников и очевидцев событий, а также ростом потребности потомков этих людей к сохранению памяти о них и свидетельствованию от их имени. На примере книги «С моих слов записано верно» (2022 г.) автор анализирует повествовательную структуру сдвоенных рассказов героев книги (19 историй, преимущественно третьего и четвертого поколения), представленных описанием «личного опыта поиска репрессированных» предков и реконструкцией по документам их биографий. Автор пытается ответить на вопрос, что позволяет этим рассказам из уст потомков звучать как убедительные свидетельства от имени предков. Отталкиваясь от содержания текстов, в качестве аналитической рамки автор использует неочевидные для современных исследований памяти методы классической нарратологии, конкретно – «метод Проппа», который позволяет: 1) выявить «жанровое фреймирование» повествований потомков авторами книги; 2) раскрыть многослойность и многомерность смыслов, заложенных в текстах и усиливающих эффект свидетельства, посредством применения категорий и концепций, нетипичных для исследований памяти («мотивировка», «неполнота» / «недостаточность», «антагонист» и др.).

The article problematizes the witnessing the “difficult past” crisis phenomenon due to the passing away of historical events direct participants and eyewitnesses, alongside with the increasing responsibility or need among their descendants to preserve memory and testify on their behalf. Using the book “I declare that the foregoing is true and correct” (2022) as a case study, the author analyzes the narrative structure of paired accounts by the book’s protagonists: nineteen stories mainly representing the third and fourth generations. These accounts combine descriptions of the “personal searching experience for repressed ancestors” with biographical reconstructions based on archival documents. The author seeks to answer the question of what enables these descendant testimonies to function convincingly as credible acts of witnessing on behalf of their ancestors. Drawing on the content of the texts, the analytical framework employs Propp’s methodology which allows for: 1) identifying the genre framing of descendant narratives constructed by the book’s authors; and 2) uncovering the layered and multi-dimensional meanings embedded within the texts through the application of categories and concepts uncommon in memory studies, thereby enhancing the testimonial effect (such as “motivation”, “incompleteness” / “insufficiency”, “antagonist” and others).
