<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>The article deals with the Mongolian oikotype of “wild man” in folklore and hominological narratives. Various features of the Mongolian “wild man” are analyzed – nomination, appearance, features of character, behavior and way of life, as well as some plots associated with this character. “Wild man” in Mongolian tradition is a complex, sometimes even contradictory image. Despite the abundance of stable features, such as a hairy body, nudity, bare feet, and long, loose hair, many of his features vary from source to source. In particular, his personality and attitude towards people varies, to the point of being the exact opposite behaviors – from helping a person to hostility and driving insane. Depending on the source, an encounter with a “wild man” can be seen as either a sign of a great fortune or, conversely, a bad omen. In the understanding of the locals, the “wild man” is often associated with spirits and demons from actual mythology (chutgur, lus-savdag), or with representatives of local fauna (camel, bear, etc.), which emphasizes his trinity of human, demonic and animal natures.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>монгольский фольклор</kwd><kwd>«дикий человек»</kwd><kwd>алмас</kwd><kwd>демонология</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>Mongolian folklore</kwd><kwd>“wild man”</kwd><kwd>almas</kwd><kwd>demonology</kwd></kwd-group><funding-group><funding-statement xml:lang="ru">Исследование выполнено за счет гранта Российского научного фонда № 24-18-01119.</funding-statement><funding-statement xml:lang="en">This work was supported by the Russian Science Fund, project № 24-1801119.</funding-statement></funding-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><title>References</title><ref id="cit1"><label>1</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">Неклюдов 2019 – Неклюдов С.Ю.
